PERSONAL STATEMENT
The world of photography is one that has both fascinated and challenged me ever since I took my first photo class in High School. I am simply amazed that within the borders of a photograph there can be such a self contained world of interconnected symbolic meaning, and yet at the same time be so dependent on the cultural context in which the art is experienced. In my own work, I strive to construct and capture images of equal paradox. Photography, in my opinion, should be visually engaging in terms of the shapes and tones, as well as intellectually engaging in its content thus allowing the viewer a certain pleasure as their eyes read and decode the images. My personal as well as professional goals are to continue to develop my technical skills while fully experiencing the world around me so that I can bring new and interesting insite to my work.
